Short & Sweet

Surprise!!  Did you notice my blog took on a new look today?!

I’ve been trying to learn WordPress and familiarize myself with its functions and features so I can get the most out of it.  While poking around, I decided to change the “theme” for my blog to a different one.  I like most of the elements of the new theme, but I can’t figure out how to show two different photos on the home page.  When I change the big, “featured” photo, the smaller one changes as well.  Same thing happens when I change the small one…the big one changes.  Ugh.  I’ve been fussing with it for quite some time now, visited all the support forums and tutorials etc. but I’m not understanding what the problem is.  I’ve finally gone to my group of fellow WordPress bloggers to see if any of them use the same theme…maybe one of them can help.

Apparently, the title of the most recent post will display across the top of the bigger picture and I’m not sure what the purpose of that is.  I may go back to the gallery and find another theme but I sure don’t want to spend another fruitless day doing it.

So, I’ve squandered away another day and I’d really like to sit and do nothing for a little bit!  I’ll make this post a short one and come back tomorrow.

I’ll try to get back tomorrow.  Until then…

Hello February!

I know I’m a couple of days late with this post but my last one really took some effort.

There is a saying among writers: “To write more, write more.”  Makes sense.

I joined WordPress’ Post-A-Week challenge on December 31, 2011.  They’re doing a Post-A-Day challenge as well, but I know myself too well and well, that one seemed a bit over the top for me right now.  I aim for every day but try to post at least once a week.  I’ve only slipped up once. :o )  The idea behind the challenge was to encourage bloggers to write on a regular basis and to offer each other inspiration and encouragement.  I get regular emails from WordPress with ideas to write about but what I usually do is read the ideas and most of the time write about something completely different that one of those ideas sparked in my head.  I also get emails from subscribing to some of the other Post-A-Day/Post-A-Week participant’s blogs.  SO, I’m writing a LOT more and making new friends as well!   It’s all good.

I’ve  officially completed the month of January with only the one slip-up.  Here is a recap and highlights from the month.
